Query Tips
In my experience, a deeper, clearer picture can be illuminated when the originating query is intentional and clear. Here are some tips!
Keep your base query to one subject at a time — if there’s more information to be gleaned, the cards will let us know! I promise you won’t be left hanging!
Stick with the present timeline. While tarot/oracle cards can be a divination tool, I engage with them as a mirror or window into current realities. Don’t spend time asking about the past or the future (they’re dynamic and ever-changing, anyhow!) — instead ask about the now and the ways you can best move through current circumstances at your highest vibration while serving the greatest good.
Seek out open-ended questions instead of a “yes or no.” Example: Should I take this new job could be more powerfully phrased as one of the following queries, depending on what is most important to you:
What part of me will come more alive if I take this new job?
What am I not seeing about this new opportunity that may be important?
What will my finances look like, should I take this new job?
Our query does not need to be limited to a one card answer! Different spreads (ways of laying the cards) can highlight different information. We will work together to identify a spread that resonates and serves your query, but below are some multi-card queries for the previous new job example:
What is the outcome if I take this job (card 1)? What is the outcome if I stay in my current job (card 2)?
Help me understand my current situation (card 1), an action to serve my highest self (card 2), and clarity on my desired outcome (card 3) as it relates to my career.
Keep your queries focused on *you*! While it can be tempting to ask about someone else (a potential love interest, perhaps!), the cards are rooted in deep magic that requires the respect of other’s autonomy and privacy. Better to phrase your query regarding how you can impact the situation for the outcome you desire. Example: Does my boss secretly dislike me could be more meaningfully phrased as one of the following queries:
What can I focus on at work to support getting this upcoming promotion?
How can I engage with my boss in a way that maintains my own boundaries while keeping our relationship as friendly as possible?
If I go to HR with my concerns regarding my boss, how will this impact my life at work?
Be brave in your queries! The cards will present you with the information you are ready and willing to hear. Conversely, if there are things you might not want me to “see,” the cards will not illuminate them but may provide us an indication that you could do some more exploration in that area to gain greater clarity.
My style of reading relies greatly on authentic and enthusiastic collaboration and co-creation — when we sit together we will dive into what’s alive for you and work together to create a meaningful, lush query so the cards may bring you powerful and specific feedback to help facilitate and support your best life!
